An 11-year-old boy from Perry Township, struck by a vehicle while he navigated the intersection of 14th Street SW and Brooklyn Avenue, lies in a hospital with a leg injury incurred during yesterday's unfortunate incident, the same intersection that brushes close to Central Catholic High School, WHBC reports.
The details accumulated thus far by the Perry Township Police sketch a scenario where the child, in the act of riding his bike, disregarded a stop sign only to be hit by an oncoming vehicle, causing the injury that left him in need of treatment, per News 5 Cleveland.
Swiftly responding, the Perry Township Fire Department delivered the injured youth to Aultman Hospital, where medical staff are currently evaluating his condition. At the same time, officers noted that the driver involved in the crash stayed at the scene and actively cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
In the aftermath of the crash, authorities have issued a call to caution for all residents, emphasizing the importance of vigilance at intersections and adherence to traffic laws, which is a particular resonance for young cyclists who venture into the roadways perhaps less versed in the disciplined observation of traffic signs and signals, as described in the initial police statements.
