A 65-year-old man was killed in a collision in southeast Las Vegas early this Saturday, according to police reports. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said they received calls concerning a two-vehicle crash around 12:07 a.m. on South Las Vegas Boulevard at the intersection of East Pyle Avenue. News 3 LV and the Las Vegas Review-Journal both reported on the fatal incident.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department statement suggested that the driver of a Nissan Rogue was traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard and was approaching the intersection at Pyle Avenue when a Jeep Grand Cherokee going southbound on the same road and in the left turn lane, failed to correctly yield. The Jeep then made an abrupt left turn to go east, crossing into the Nissan's trajectory, which led to a violent impact between the two vehicles. This account aligns with the details obtained by News 3 LV, which added that the collision inflicted major damage to both cars involved.

Following the crash, the driver of the Nissan was quickly transported to the UMC Trauma Center with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he later died as a result of these injuries. The other driver, who was operating the Jeep, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the UMC Trauma Center. As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Jeep's driver displayed signs of impairment and was consequently arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of DUI resulting in death.

The death of the Nissan driver marked the 93rd traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year. Investigations into the crash are actively underway, led by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.
