The City of Arlington is inviting residents to join the celebration by playing pickleball at any of their Recreation Centers, including the Arlington Tennis Center. As posted on Arlington Parks and Recreation, there is a full schedule ready this fall for newcomers and seasoned players alike to get in the game.
For those seeking communal activity and a touch of competition, the city’s new program, Golden Paddles, emerges to serve players aged 50 and up, a demographic that's seen a growing interest in pickleball in recent years; this program is hosted at the Cliff Nelson Recreation Center, it will focus on the social and physical benefits of engaging in sports at an elder age, and incorporate a friendly environment for all who join. The sport has gained momentum among various age groups, being a mix of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, pickleball provides a unique blend of fun and exercise that has caught the attention of Arlington's active community.
Pickleball, for the uninitiated, can be described as a paddle sport that was created for all skill levels, making it the perfect activity for a family outing or an after-work stress reliever. Its simplicity and accessibility contribute to its growing popularity across the United States, with Arlington being no exception. The city has responded to the increasing demand by offering numerous courts and time slots to accommodate the burgeoning pickleball community.
