Baltimore and Washington DC to Enjoy Mild Week Ahead with Isolated Showers, Says National Weather ServiceSource: JJS Photo, CC BY-SA 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Baltimore residents can anticipate mild weather with weak disturbances in the week ahead. A cold front hovering over the region today might give way to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms by afternoon, with heavy cloud cover expected especially east of the Blue Ridge, according to the latest from National Weather Service.

The high-pressure system building over the weekend should bid farewell to the lingering muggy conditions. While temperatures are slated to warm back into the mid-80s to near 90 this afternoon, the evening will see them dip into the 60s and 50s to the west, and while weak instability means we shouldn't expect any strong storms, the presence of even a weak wave this afternoon going into tonight could stir up some weather activity from Virginia toward southern Maryland.

Looking toward Sunday through Monday night, the forecast agrees on dry conditions and clear skies as the National Weather Service mentioned. High temperatures are expected to settle in the lower to mid-80s, with lows ranging from the mid-50s to the 60s.

Aviation updates suggest mostly VFR conditions this Saturday, with the possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm not being completely ruled out Tuesday afternoon for the southern terminals, all this amidst general west winds at less than 10 kt and a cold front that's taking its time drifting southward.

On the marine front, boaters should experience west to northwest winds with the lingering impact of the cold front sliding towards southeast Virginia, the threat for strong gusts remains low which means no advisory is in place, behind that front a northerly surge later tonight should also stay within the sub-advisory range.
