Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski shook up his administration's ranks with a series of key personnel changes announced yesterday. Sean Naron ascends to the role of chief of staff starting August 12, filling the shoes left by Dori Henry's departure last month. Simultaneously, Christopher Martin, who has been acting director since April, is pegged to officially head the Office of Information Technology (OIT) pending County Council approval. Meanwhile, Erica Palmisano steps up as acting director of communications and press secretary on the same day Naron assumes his new role, as detailed by a Baltimore County press release.

"These dedicated public servants bring a wealth of experience and passion to serve the residents and communities of Baltimore County," Johnny Olszewski said, as cited in the press release. In a landscape humming with ambition and change, Naron has carved his path, having directed communications for the Olszewski administration and worked in various significant roles including for former Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

Marking his step up from acting director, Martin's full-time appointment to OIT director swings the spotlight to his technological vision and past leadership roles, including a successful stint as IT endpoint manager, at the county. Serving over a decade at the University of Baltimore in IT roles has primed Martin for this challenge, widening the lens through which information technology policies are seen and shaped in Baltimore County. According to a statement from the Baltimore County website, Martin's confirmation will hinge on a "majority of the members of the County Council."
