The upcoming trial of Abel Mendoza-Ramirez, charged in the July homicide at a Bensalem Township apartment complex, is set following a recent preliminary hearing, reports indicate from the Bucks County Justice Center.
During the Wednesday hearing, Magisterial District Judge Michael W. Gallagher reviewed testimonies from an eyewitness and three law enforcement officers, leading to his decision to hold Mendoza-Ramirez on trial for the slaying of 40-year-old Jose Miguel Tenorio-Ruiz, a decision firmly placing the weight of legal proceedings squarely on Mendoza-Ramirez's future.
On top of the existing charges, which include criminal homicide, first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possession of an instrument of crime, Deputy District Attorney Carrie Worton applied additional charges against Mendoza-Ramirez, according to Bucks County's announcement, these charges are for a person not to possess a firearm and possession of a firearm without a license.
The formal arraignment for Mendoza-Ramirez is scheduled for September 27.
