In the stark terrain of remote Texas ranchland, a coordinated effort by the Rio Grande Valley Sector Missing Migrant Program and Border Patrol agents culminated in the rescue of a lost migrant mother and her child, according to a recent CBP release. The distress call came in yesterday with the mother reaching out to 911 emergency services, finding herself and her child in a precarious situation near Fronton, Texas.
The call, which conveyed both plea and position, situated the pair by a distinctive "Auxilio 911" sign featuring a green cross. The signage proved to be vital, bearing location coordinates that enabled the agents' prompt response to the specific site where they found the mother and her child, it's a strategy that has likely prevented this incident from turning into a more dangerous or potentially tragic scenario.
RGV Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez praised the effectiveness of the humanitarian mission, stating, "Great work by all involved in this humanitarian response,” and emphasized, “This rescue of a mother and child highlights the importance of the humanitarian efforts that the Rio Grande Valley Sector through, its Missing Migrant Program, have invested in to save human lives.” Rescued individuals received an evaluation from emergency medical technicians before being escorted to a local Border Patrol station for further assistance.
