Residents in Bucks County can expect trucks bearing the county seal to make rounds this Monday evening as part of a mosquito control effort aimed at curbing the spread of the West Nile virus. According to Bucks County Department of Health (BCDH) West Nile Virus Mosquito Control Program, spraying will focus on areas in Bristol Township, Falls Township, and Tullytown Borough, where nuisance mosquitoes and those carrying the virus have been found in higher populations, as per Bucks County.

The trucks will be equipped with ultra-low volume (ULV) sprayers to treat mosquito habitats, including residential and park areas. They will disperse a product called Duet at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre, designed to rapidly control adult mosquito populations while achieving a low toxicity profile to mammals and minimal impact on non-target insects and the environment.

Specifically, spraying in Bristol Township is set to cover areas bordered by New Falls Road, Magnolia Drive, and Levittown Parkway; in Falls Township, the targeted regions are contained by New Falls Road, Penn Valley Road, Bald Cypress Lane, Elderberry Drive, and Pinewood Drive, also extending to parts of Levittown Parkway. At the same time, actions will center around Pinewood Drive in Tullytown Borough.
