Charlotte's burgeoning coffee culture is set to receive a fresh jolt of energy with the expansion of The Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters, a favorite among Plaza Midwood's caffeinated crowd. The new outpost is slated to make its presence known in the South End neighborhood at the address of 3001 Griffith Street by the bustling Rail Trail. WCNC reported the details of the property, including plans for a sizable renovation of its 6,300 square foot interior before opening doors to coffee enthusiasts.
As the brainchild of Rhyne Davis, Giddy Goat has not only served up strong espresso shots but also quite the reputation for delicious empanadas – a demand that has outgrown the current kitchen's capabilities. According to Axios, the new location intends to accommodate a considerable kitchen and warehouse, supporting the enterprise's burgeoning needs. Davis is reportedly optimistic about recreating the lively foot traffic experienced at their original location and suggests that the tantalizing scent of coffee beans roasting may just be the secret ingredient to draw patrons in.
With the local real estate played by MPV Properties and Rhyno Partners Coffee, the deal for the new location involved a $4 million transaction – a hearty investment for a cafe space of roughly 2,000 to 2,500 square feet, while the remaining square footage will be dedicated to kitchen and packaging operations. Clark Alcorn of MPV Properties represented the buyers in the acquisition, providing a strategic spot near landmarks such as Suffolk Punch and Bossy Beulah's.
Beyond the expansion news, a further boost to the neighborhood's vibe is expected, as an architect enlisted by Davis is tasked with "jazzing it up" and ensuring ample outdoor seating for the coffee shop. While the actual opening date remains as elusive as the perfect espresso pull, anticipation brews among Charlotte's coffee connoisseurs eager to see how The Giddy Goat's second act will fare in their community.
