The City of Irvine's Administrative Services Department is receiving accolades yet again, as it secures the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) award for its 19th year in a row, a national recognition that underscores Irvine's commitment to following best procurement practices and further highlights its innovation, professionalism, productivity, and leadership in securing goods and services that serve the citizens most efficiently and effectively.
This year's accolade places Irvine in the company of only 72 cities in the United States and Canada to be honored with this award, demonstrating the city's continued dedication to excellence in government procurement, according to the City of Irvine's announcement, Irvine stands alone in Orange County in this achievement and joins 48 agencies in California that have been recognized for embracing innovation, professionalism, productivity leadership, and e-procurement.
Aware of the competitive nature of the procurement process, the City of Irvine takes this honor as a testament to the ongoing effort its team expends in ensuring the municipality receives not just products and services, but value and reliability for the taxpayer's dollar—emphasizing the need for innovation and efficiency in the public sector management.
The National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI) heads the AEP award with spirited collaboration from various organizations, such as the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO), the Canadian Public Procurement Council / Conseil canadien des marchés publics (CPPC) and several others, all joining forces to bring about an environment that fosters improvement and innovation in procurement processes; taking part in this program is no small feat, given that it requires an institution to not only meet robust standards but also perpetually evolve and refine their practices.
