The office of District Attorney Greg Willis has opened the doors once again for community members to peek behind the curtain of the local criminal justice system with the announcement of the fall session of the Collin County Citizen Prosecutor Academy (CCCPA). Set to commence on September 5th, this free educational initiative aims to forge a stronger connection between prosecutors and the public they serve, according to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.
The CCCPA is an immersive 12-week program that takes place on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., offering participants a detailed look at how justice is sought by the district's prosecutors. Participants will need to clear a background check and meet attendance requirements. In addition, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and the whole process is poised to build a partnership with the community, yet they have until August 12 to beat the deadline and apply.
Selected through a competitive application process, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with prosecutors, investigators, detectives, and judges. This program not only provides a glimpse into the daily operations of these legal professionals but also opens the floor for open dialogue with the leadership of the District Attorney's office.
According to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office, "CCCPA participants learn the role of the DA and the criminal justice system through open dialogue with the District Attorney's leadership," while also, connecting with their community. Upon completion, graduates are expected to be equipped with valuable insights about the constant pursuit of justice and protection conducted by the office in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
