A year following his audacious escape from Chester County Prison, convicted murderer Danelo S. Cavalcante is anticipated to enter a guilty plea to multiple charges, including escape, theft, and burglary. Cavalcante, the Brazilian national, was involved in a notorious two-week manhunt following his August 2023 escape, where he evaded law enforcement until his eventual capture in South Coventry Township, as reported by FOX 29.
The courtroom is expected to be secure as Cavalcante returns to the site of his sentencing for the murder of his girlfriend, Deborah Brandao. His attorney, Lonny Fish, amid contemplations of the convict's choices, stated, "I have visited with him and spoken with him several times. I can’t get into what he says," during an interview, as per FOX 29. Fish acknowledged the gravity of Cavalcante's crimes revealing, "Had Mr. Cavalcante simply escaped and not committed any other crimes with it, he would be facing the maximum of three and a half to seven years. The complication is there are two burglaries he’s charged with. Those alone carry a mandatory of 10 years in prison each."
The hearing is set to occur in the Chester County Court before Judge Alison Bell Royer. According to Daily Local News, it's probable that Cavalcante will plead in agreement to a negotiated sentence that could be concurrently served with his existing life sentence. Cavalcante, now known as inmate QP8931, is currently detained at SCI Greene, a maximum-security state prison.
The follow-up to his escape has prompted Chester County Prison to implement security enhancements, which include additional surveillance cameras and razor wire atop the escape point. These details emerge against the backdrop of Cavalcante's scheduled appearance, nearly one year to the date of his harrowing flight for freedom, as reported by NBC10.
