
Yesterday, Houston was the site of a tragic incident when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Katy Freeway. According to City of Houston News, the collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. near 15400 Katy Freeway.
The male pedestrian, whose name has yet to be released pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was reportedly in a lane of traffic when the accident happened. The driver of a silver Toyota Camry, traveling eastbound on the highway, struck the victim. The Houston Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene, where they declared the pedestrian deceased.
Also involved in the collision were two women in the Camry, a 40-year-old driver and her female passenger. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver, who was found to be sober at the time of the crash, told investigators that she saw the pedestrian run toward her car and jump into the lane in which she was traveling.
As HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer Z. Alikhan continue their investigation. Houston police have not released further details about the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
