In response to the discovery of West Nile Virus-positive mosquitoes in multiple traps, Euless city officials conducted a targeted mosquito spraying operation that commenced on Thursday, after sundown. Specifically, three zones within the city underwent treatment to mitigate the threat of the virus spreading to human populations. Zones 3, 6, and 7 were on the docket, with Zone 3 receiving a single night's dose of pesticides while Zones 6 and 7 endured a three-night regimen as reported by the City of Euless.
Residents were given straightforward guidelines to minimize exposure: stay indoors with family and pets during the spraying, shun window-unit air conditioners unless they were set to interior circulation, and steer clear of the spray vehicles on the move. If by happenstance they found themselves outside, it was advised to eschew contact with the spray and cleanse any touched skin with soap and water.
Regarding health and safety, the employed pesticide, known as BIOMIST 4+4 ULV, had gotten the nod from the EPA, signifying it harbored no significant danger to human well-being. Still, officials suggested that the evening schedule would better serve those with sensitivities or preferences to evade potential exposure. According to the City of Euless, "People with conditions such as asthma and other respiratory conditions should stay indoors because spraying may worsen or aggravate these conditions." Those who reckoned the mist had mired their well-being were advised to bridge a conversation with a healthcare provider posthaste.
