Starting next week, drivers who frequent State Route 1 (SR-1) in Marin County should prepare for some disruptions. Caltrans District 4 announced a schedule for shoulder widening and a curb ramp project designed for the highway's scenic but critical connective corridor.
#TRAFFICALERT: Caltrans is scheduled to continue the SR-1 Capital Preventative Maintenance Project the week of Aug. 5. Intermittent one-way traffic control is scheduled for shoulder widening in Olema from Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. @maringov @WestMarinFeed pic.twitter.com/SAdNQf4LcG

From Monday, Aug. 5, through Friday, Aug. 9, intermittent one-way traffic control for shoulder widening in Olema will occur. The work is set to take place each day between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Additionally, a traffic shift will be employed in Point Reyes Station for curb ramp work, affecting local business parking during these hours. Caltrans is putting up signs to notify the community of these changes.
The maintenance efforts are part of a larger capital maintenance project happening on SR-1, aimed not just at repairing the road itself but also at enhancing it for cyclists and pedestrians. This initiative extends nearly 14 miles from the pastoral stretches of Olema to the rustic charm of Point Reyes Station and from Tomales to the Marin County line.
