Ohio residents and visitors can now navigate the state in arguably the most classic of ways, thanks to the release of a new state map. Governor Mike DeWine has announced the distribution of 1.4 million copies of the latest edition, according to a press release obtained by The Highland County Press. The map, released just in time for venturing through Ohio’s summer attractions, was designed to be a holistic representation of what the state offers.
Citing more than convenience, the Ohio Department of Transportation emphasizes the need to have a traditional map handy as "Online navigation services can go offline. Cell service can drop." Spectrum News1 quotes ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks, who said it's always smart to have a hard copy backup. Whether you are taking your family to explore one of our state's beautiful parks or attractions, planning a business trip, or needing to get from point A to B, Ohio’s new state map will get you there.
The 2024 edition marks a continuation of a tradition that has spanned over a century since the first official state map was published in 1912. The new map showcases updated road changes and routes, and it’s potent with points of interest to guide travelers across Ohio.
In addition to mapping the lay of the land, the map is infused with practical information and reminders for the road-tripping public. "Our new map is about more than just our roads," said DeWine, "it’s a tool we can use to showcase all we have to offer in Ohio, the Heart of It All!" Information on Ohio's distracted driving law, photos of attractions, and contact details for the Ohio State Highway Patrol are to assist travelers, as detailed in WTOL.
For those interested, the maps were printed by RR Donnelley in Macedonia, Ohio, supporting local businesses and the state's workforce. Indeed, the map is available for anyone looking to embark on an Ohio adventure, ensuring they are well-guided on their journey through the state famously touted as "The Heart of It All".
