A family of six in Battle Creek endured a harrowing episode early last Friday as bullets tore through their home, according to authorities. At approximately 2:58 a.m., Battle Creek Police were dispatched to the residence on Laura Lane after receiving calls about gunshots and found the home pockmarked with bullet holes, as detailed in the City of Battlecreek. The assailants began their attack by knocking on the door and proceeded to fire through the windows, later kicking in the front door and shooting at a 31-year-old man inside, who fortunately was not struck. Neither the 27-year-old woman nor the four children under 10 also present.

Following the incident, wherein the house bore the brunt of the violence with no personal injuries reported the suspects fled the scene, catalyzing a swift law enforcement response in the surrounding area. A vehicle description broadcasted by the BCPD filtered through the airwaves and a car fitting that description was stopped later by Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies, leading to the discovery of two men and two women along with a 9mm pistol concealed under the driver's seat, as per the City of Battle Creek.

The driver of the stopped vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was taken into custody by the police. He faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon and assault with intent to murder alongside an unrelated outstanding warrant. As reported by FOX 17, investigators also matched the 9mm casings found outside the home to the pistol recovered from the vehicle, effectively linking the suspects to the scene of the crime.
