A fatal confrontation ensued after a road rage incident in West Hollywood on Tuesday, which led to the death of one man, KTLA reports. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the altercation that took place on the 7900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, as per their news release. The deadly dispute erupted following a minor collision in a 7-Eleven parking lot around 1:00 P.M.
According to witnesses, the involved parties appeared to be in their 40s or possibly 50s and began arguing after their vehicles collided, which quickly escalated into a physical fight. Sean Harrison, a bystander who was present during the incident, described the chilling moment to KTLA's Chris Wolfe: "But it didn’t look like it was a punch that would kill someone." Tragically, one punch was all it took for one of the men to fall unconscious and later be pronounced dead after he was transported to a hospital.
Lt. Daniel Vizcarra from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told NBC Los Angeles that at this stage of their investigation, no weapons appear to have been involved in the altercation. Moreover, KTLA adds that the surviving man was detained pending further inquiry, although his current condition remains undisclosed.
SkyFOX captured footage of the crime scene, showing areas taped off near the 7-Eleven, relaying just fragments of the day’s tragic narrative. Officials have yet to ascertain if or not foul play was involved, nor have they identified a suspect, as reported by FOX LA. The identities of the men have not been released to the public at this time, and detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to shed light on this abrupt and violent end to an everyday dispute.
