A former Franklin County deputy, Charles Davis, has been scheduled to stand trial in March on multiple sex crime charges following his indictment last month. Davis faces serious allegations, including 32 counts of rape and 26 counts of gross sexual imposition. The indictment documents, spanning 18 pages, detail the charges against him.
During a recent court appearance in Ross County, both the alleged 16-year-old victim and his mother made statements expressing their concerns. Since being arrested and subsequently released with a GPS monitoring device, the victim fears the possibility of Davis seeking him out, especially at his school and high school sporting events. CW Columbus made this statement available.
A protective order has been granted to shield the alleged teen victim from the ex-deputy. Davis and the victim were reported to have known each other, with the alleged incidents having occurred over two years. The details of their acquaintance and the nature of the alleged crimes haven't been disclosed.
The case has stirred public interest and concern as the allegations mount against a former law enforcement officer who was supposed to protect the community. The victim's declaration of fear appears indicative of a deeper narrative of trust betrayed, potent enough to hang heavily over the upcoming trial. "Since Davis was arrested and released on a GPS monitor, he has been worried Davis would come after him at school and at his high school sporting events," the victim said in a statement obtained by ABC6.
