The economic landscape of Fort Worth is set for a significant boost as the City Council has recently given the green light to incentives aimed at the expansion of GE on Wing Support Inc., a key player in the aerospace sector. This decision enables the engine maintenance and repair company, which operates as a legal entity of GE Aerospace, to enlarge its operations adjacent to its current 84,344-square-foot facility near DFW International Airport.

GE on Wing Support, which currently employs 65 individuals at its Fort Worth location out of more than 300 employees worldwide will now be looking at adding a 3.25-acre parcel to its local footprint. Jay Hembree, the site leader for GE On-Wing Support at DFW, expressed his company's gratitude, "We appreciate the city’s partnership to make this investment possible in the Fort Worth community," he said, "It will help us build capacity and better serve our customers", according to the City of Fort Worth.

The expansion plan involves a significant financial commitment from GE on Wing Support Inc., with expectations to inject $50 million into the project, which includes $37.5 million assigned for real property improvements by December 2026, and $12.5 million allocated for business personal property by January 2027. In addition to infrastructure, the company embarks on a hiring spree, pledging to bring on board 100 new full-time jobs by the end of 2026 – set to swell the total full-time employees at the site to 165 with an expected minimum average annual salary of $70,000.

Robert Sturns, the Fort Worth director of economic development, shared his enthusiasm, as cited by the City of Fort Worth, “It’s exciting to see this GE on Wing Support project move forward, because it speaks to the strength of Fort Worth’s existing aerospace sector and its opportunities for future growth". Moreover, announcing a community-oriented approach, the company has committed that 15% of construction costs will go towards business-equity firms, in a move to foster inclusive economic benefits.

This corporate venture has garnered support from the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership, with CEO Robert Allen highlighting its significance. “GE on Wing Support’s expansion is yet another testament to the power of Fort Worth’s robust aerospace and defense industry,” said Allen, per the City of Fort Worth. “This latest investment, which grows both GE on Wing’s operational footprint and workforce in Fort Worth, is exactly the type of investment the Fort Worth EDP targets as we work to attract high-quality business investment to our rapidly growing region.”
