Fort Worth’s expanse of nature, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, with its vast prairies and diverse wildlife, is now offering free admission for those with a Fort Worth Public Library card. According to the City of Fort Worth, library cardholders can check out passes granting general admission to the idyllic escape; there's a total of 50 up for grabs, 25 physical passes you can pick up at library branches, and 25 ePasses accessible on your smartphone.

These highly-coveted passes are valid for seven days, allowing a group of up to five to meander the Refuge's grounds, though they won't cover certain fees for special programs, group tours, or crafting activities as per the nature center, Dr. Jared Wood, acting manager for the Nature Center mentioned that there's over 3,600 acres and more than 21 miles of hiking trails, also he encouraged visitors "Take your time exploring!" and signposted the Hardwicke Interpretive Center as the starting point for a personalized journey into the wild, guided by experts attuned to seasonal offerings, as cited by the City of Fort Worth.

It's not just about forest bathing or a leisure hike; the Nature Center & Refuge, Wood stressed, holds ecological treasures and cultural stories from times past, all nestled within an ever-spreading urban landscape. Visitors can take a gander at bison, prairie dogs, and the occasional alligator while contemplating the delicate balance between modern living and the stewardship required to maintain such a sanctuary. "I want new visitors to leave with a profound appreciation for the Nature Center & Refuge’s unique beauty and ecological and cultural significance". Wood said, as per the City of Fort Worth.
