Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently designated Benjamin Kohlmann as a member of the Texas Southern University Board of Regents, with a term concluding on February 1, 2027. The announcement was made in an official statement on the governor’s website. Kohlmann, a Dallas resident, comes from a background as a venture capital partner and serves as the chief operating officer at Cubit Capital.
Bringing a diverse set of experiences to the table, including his current roles on three private sector boards and prior leadership as chairman of the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum, a non-profit, Kohlmann is no stranger to the boardroom. According to the governor's office, he has also contributed his expertise as CEO of Farcast, Inc, and as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. His military credentials include serving as an F/A-18 carrier pilot and retiring after 20 years split between active service and reserves in the Navy.
Kohlmann’s educational accolades include a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University where he studied Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Political Science, followed by an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Having also been named a Presidential Leadership Scholar in 2018, his commitment to community service further extends to teaching Sunday School at Park Cities Presbyterian Church.
