
Gaining distinction among her peers, AC1(AW/SW/IW) Jolyn San Nicolas has been heralded as the NAS JRB Fort Worth Sailor of the Third Quarter FY 2024. Hailing from the vibrant isle of Guam, San Nicolas embarked on her naval journey in 2006, fueled by aspirations for professional development and a yearning to provide her offspring with a solid education and a sea of greater job prospects for herself and her spouse.
San Nicolas is qualifying as an Arrival Controller, a role in which she deftly coordinates IFR practice approaches transitioned from DFW TRACON, extending radar services to various aircraft until their secure transfer to a Final Controller. NAS JRB Fort Worth shared her accomplishments, noting her expansive service that includes a stint on the USS Bonhomme Richard and deployments that circled the Rim of the Pacific. Her Naval journey also includes shore duties across the map from NAS Lemoore, CA to the scenic expanses of Marine Corps Air Station at Kaneohe Bay, and beyond.
Her tour of duty paints a picture of dedication and growth. San Nicolas was aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, experienced the disciplined rhythm of life in Atsugi, Japan, and, in the last nine months, marked her presence at NAS JRB Fort Worth. San Nicolas remains grounded by the excellence surrounding her, expressing gratitude for the chance to mentor and the trust instilled in her by leadership.
Post-military life beckons with plans meticulously charted toward education and a peaceful retirement in Fort Worth. San Nicolas aims to complete her bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management and transition through the Skillbridge Program before embarking on her civilian career. One of her indelible Navy experiences was the heartfelt farewell to CAPT Brett Krozier, an event engrained in her memory for the captain's positive impact pre-COVID era. When duty relaxes its grip, she indulges in the solace of cooking, baking, and the company of her beloved canines, Tasi and Isa.
