Local authorities mounted a thorough search operation yesterday near the Shiawassee River following the discovery of two children's bicycles, unclaimed and enigmatic in their stillness, by the river's access point on Oakland St. at Emily. The Holly Police Department and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office collaborated in a "precautionary search" after a report came through at approximately 11:47 a.m, about the bicycles which according to the Holly Fire Department's Facebook page, had been stationed there for hours.
Despite the strong current and heavy vegetation making the river's banks hazardous for young adventurers, there have been no reports of children missing in the Holly area, officials, moving quickly to address the potential threat even with the absence of any witness to children entering or playing near the potentially treacherous waters.
The dive team from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, and fire and police personnel from Holly scoured the area, employing boats and aerial drone technology in their search efforts. "No one was discovered," Holly Police Chief J. Narsh conveyed in a mid-afternoon update, as reported by WWJ Newsradio, adding that while there are no active reports of anyone being in danger they are taking every precaution.
The sheriff's office completed their search and left the scene before 3:30 p.m., having found no signs of distress or misplaced children. Officials are maintaining some details close to the chest, not releasing any further information at this time, the community is asked to come forward if they recognize the bicycles, to contact the Holly Police Department at (248) 858-4911.
