A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that resulted in the death of a man back in May, according to Houston police. The shooting occurred at a hotel on the service road of 6 North Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8), around 9 p.m. on the night of May 16.
The suspect, 25-year-old Ibyron Dmikkelo Faulkner, has been charged with murder in the 180th State District Court, with additional charges for two unrelated felonies. A booking photo of Faulkner was released in an official statement. The victim of the fatal shooting has been identified as 24-year-old Edmund Parker.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Brooks and C. Davidson gathered facts at the scene: responding to a shooting call, officers found Parker unresponsive in a hotel room having suffered a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The investigation revealed that a firearm exchange began between Faulkner and an unknown male in the hotel courtyard. Faulkner reportedly proceeded to the parking lot and, there, exchanged gunfire with Parker, which resulted in fatal injuries to Parker who retreated to the hotel room where he was later found. The male initially involved in the shootout with Faulkner fled before officers arrived on the scene, and currently remains unidentified.
Faulkner was identified as the suspect after further investigative efforts, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on June 12. He was detained on Saturday, and subsequently charged for his alleged involvement in Parker's death, Houston police detailed in their release. The circumstances leading up to the shooting and the motive, are not fully clear while the investigation continues. Any individuals who might possess additional information have been encouraged to step forward.
