A juvenile male has been arrested and formally charged in the shooting that injured four other juveniles at a residence on Collier Street, as confirmed by the Houston Police Department (HPD). The incident, which took place around 9:15 p.m. on August 22, escalated following an altercation on social media, leading to the shooting of the victims, who are in stable condition after receiving medical attention. City of Houston News reported that the arrested suspect, a 15-year-old male, has been hit with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The latest development saw HPD's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives M. George and A. Garcia responding to the chaotic scene. Upon their arrival, they found the two male and two female juveniles being treated for non-life-threatening injuries by the Houston Fire Department paramedics, as detailed in a statement by HPD. The victims, ages ranging from 10 to 16, were then taken to an area hospital. A social media dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, ending at the victim's doorstep, where the attacker and two others, still on the run, allegedly opened fire.
Upon further investigation, a juvenile male was identified as a suspect and subsequently apprehended. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has been engaged and appropriately filed charges. In a turn of events, the named suspect turned himself in at the HPD Eastside Patrol Station, along with family members on Saturday. The HPD confirmed that he was taken into custody without lashing out or resisting, as per the City of Houston News.
Meanwhile, the manhunt continues for two other suspects, described as Hispanic males, who remain free. The HPD is actively seeking information on these suspects and is encouraging the public to come forward.
