Boat enthusiasts and weekend picnickers rejoice with moderate enthusiasm. Lake Park, which has been off-limits for the bulk of the summer, is edging back to life this weekend. According to the City of Lewisville, Lake Park will partially reopen after abnormally high water levels in Lewisville Lake forced the park's closure. However, it's not yet time for a full-on invasion of sun shelters and Frisbees; the re-opening comes with a handful of restrictions.

The park will be open on Saturdays and Sundays for day use and visitors should note the parking is limited. The City of Lewisville states "Once the park reaches capacity, the park will close for the day." For those looking to hit the water, don't bother towing your boat to Lake Park. The boat ramps still keep their NO ENTRY signs dusted and displayed. Instead, Tower Bay Boat Ramp offers a nearby alternative slipway into the lake's embrace.

As for entry to the park, the usual methods won't get you far. Ongoing cleanup from the recent floods means that the regular tollbooth entry will continue to play hard to get. If you're aiming to spend your weekend loafing by the lake, you'll need to use the temporary entry at the east end of Lake Park Road. City officials remind eager park-goers to plan their visit accordingly, especially since the accessibility conundrums might not make for the breeziest entrance.
