
Firefighters in Lakeville have contained the Gulch Fire, which erupted yesterday afternoon near Old Adobe Road and Tunzi Lane. According to CALFIRE LNU, multiple agencies swiftly responded with air and ground support to combat the vegetation fire, which was being driven uphill by the wind. The blaze was reported to be 10 acres in size and was initially spreading moderately, with one structure completely engulfed and another threatened.

CAL FIRE LNU indicated that the fire's forward progress was stopped at 5:42 p.m. yesterday. Despite this success, the fire had grown to 20 acres by the time it was largely contained. An engine from CAL FIRE remained on patrol throughout the night to ensure it remained under control.
Further details from CAL FIRE's incident page show that the fire was 95% contained today. The incident began at 5:15 PM yesterday, and the latest update was provided today at 6:32 AM. Resources included establishing a bulldozer line around the fire's perimeter and assisting containment efforts.
The fire affected the area around Stage Gulch Rd near Lakeville Hwy in Lakeville, but that road has since reopened in both directions. CAL FIRE will maintain a presence at the scene until today, with at least one engine tasked with addressing hot spots that may linger within the contained perimeter.
