A collision involving a Capital Area Transportation Authority bus and a vehicle in Lansing resulted in seven injuries, as reported by WILX earlier this week. The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Olds Avenue, prompting an emergency response and the closure of southbound MLK Boulevard at Olds due to the accident.
Lansing authorities, including police and firefighters, quickly responded to the scene. Among the injured were an adult and two children who were traveling in the car, and four passengers from the bus, all sustaining minor injuries in a statement obtained by Lansing State Journal. One individual had to be extricated from the bus after it was found on its side upon firefighters' arrival at the crash site.
Both the car and the CATA bus were described as having sustained major damage following the collision. Lansing police stated that the bus was traveling south on MLK when it was struck by the passenger vehicle heading east on Olds Avenue. The circumstances of the crash, including potential contributing factors and responsibility, are currently under investigation by the Lansing police, according to reports from Michigan Legal Center.
