Las Vegas is getting ready to light up the night for a cause that's sure to warm hearts as well as entertain. The Animal Foundation is hosting the "Electric Doggy Carnival," an event where potential pet parents can meet and hopefully take home a new four-legged companion without the usual adoption fees. As reported by FOX5 Vegas, the special adoption event will take place on August 19 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., giving attendees the chance to mingle with adoptable dogs against the backdrop of glow sticks and sweet treats from an ice cream truck.

The evening festivities are part of a partnership with Guild Mortgage, which has joined forces with The Animal Foundation for the event located at 655 N Mojave Rd. "Join us under the full moon for fee-waived dog adoptions and a ‘raving’ good time!" the organizers invited, signifying an event filled with enthusiasm and the hope of new beginnings for the dogs in need of a home. Although the adoption fees are waived, a $10 license fee may still be applicable for new pet owners, according to FOX5 Vegas.

Intended to make the process as smooth as possible, The Animal Foundation has outlined the steps for adoption on their website. Prospective adopters are encouraged to browse the available animals ahead of time, to arrive at the event with an idea of the pet they are looking for. The website notes that adoptions will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, starting at 6 pm. "Please note, patrons often line up before we open to meet a pet, especially during fee-waived adoption events," The Animal Foundation states, hinting at the high level of interest such events tend to draw.

While the carnival atmosphere is set to be inviting, organizers ask that attendees refrain from bringing their current pets to the shelter. The Animal Foundation has specified that the shelter environment can be overwhelming for animals, and thus it is not conducive to genuine introductions. Instead, they provide comprehensive guidance on how to appropriately introduce a new dog to any resident pets in a more neutral setting after adoption. Despite the festivities and waived fees, responsible pet ownership remains the underlying mission of the "Electric Doggy Carnival" as The Animal Foundation continues its work to find loving homes for these animals.
