The return of the Levitt Pavilion's free fall concert series is upon us, and it's kicking off Labor Day weekend with a lineup that's as hot as the Texas summer. According to the City of Arlington, Ray Wylie Hubbard, the Texas outlaw country legend with tracks like "Redneck Mother" and "Snake Farm," will be headlining on Friday, August 30.
The weekend continues with The Drifters bringing R&B and soul to the stage on Saturday, followed by Jenny and the Mexicats’ fusion of international sounds on Sunday, in shows that promise to bring down the house. All these concerts, courtesy of Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital Arlington, round out a season of music that truly had something for every ear, taste, and toe-tapping rhythm enthusiast.
The variety on offer continues throughout the fall, with a slew of musical events set to light up the heart of Arlington. As the City of Arlington describes, expect Arlington-only special events like the Arlington Amplified Concert on September 8, just one part of the pavilion's commitment to supporting local talent in conjunction with Arlington's recognition as a Texas Music Friendly Community. The Levitt Pavilion seems to sit at the nexus of the music universe, pulling in a constellation of genres from hip-hop with RC & The Gritz to jazz orchestras, from the heart of the South to the tunes of the Far East with the yet to be detailed Asian Heritage Celebration slated for October 19.
According to the City of Arlington, the Levitt is not just about the tunes. It’s about creating a community space where everyone is welcome to come, kick back, and enjoy live entertainment. And for those who can’t make it out, no worries—thanks to the Levitt Living Room Series, concerts will be live-streamed, so fans won't miss a beat. Mixing the old school pleasure of live music with the digital age's reach is just how the Levitt rolls.
