The Lewisville City Council is gearing up for a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget, slated for discussion during the City Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 9. Interested citizens can make their way to the Council Chambers at Lewisville City Hall, located at 151 W. Church Street, to voice their thoughts on the financial blueprint laid out for the coming year, according to the City of Lewisville.
Within the confines of this proposed $137 million General Fund operating budget, residents are staring down the barrel of a proposed property tax rate increase to .422435 per $100 valuation and a utility rate hike of 9.7 percent. Despite these adjustments, and even with the increase, Lewisville's property tax rate will stand among the single lowest in North Texas. It's a noteworthy change, it’s only the fourth time rates have increased in the past three decades.
Before the budget hearing, another hearing will occur on Sept. 16, also at the City Hall, where officials will deliberate over the setting of the property tax rate. Lewisville community members interested in reviewing the budget in advance can find the document online on the city's Annual Budget page, or they can visit the City Secretary’s Office or the Lewisville Public Library during regular business hours.
For individuals looking to dig deeper or have their pressing concerns addressed, they are advised to reach out to Ashley Carlisle, the Budget Manager. Carlisle can be contacted at the following phone number: 972.219.3411. As the date of the hearing closes in, residents can also view the Lewisville City Council meeting agenda and backup materials, which will be posted online in due course.
