In a routine traffic stop gone anything but ordinary, deputies in Loma Linda made a notable discovery on Friday morning. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reported that a loaded revolver was found inside a vehicle that had been stopped for a vehicle code violation, near the intersection of Redlands Boulevard and Anderson Street—a prime example of unexpected finds in day-to-day police work.
Deputy Robert Beler and Deputy Roger Alfaro were identified as the officers involved in the stop which took place at 9:52 a.m. The passenger, Marian Elizabeth Alcarez, a 32-year-old resident of Highland, was subsequently arrested for carrying a concealed firearm, the official report states. Alcarez is facing charges under PC 25400 (a)(1), which denotes the misdemeanor of carrying a hidden firearm, encapsulating the complexities of gun legislation enforcement in the Golden State, and she has been booked into jail with bail set at $30,000.00.
While the incident wrapped relatively swiftly, with the suspect being processed at the Central Detention Center, the department encourages anyone possessing additional knowledge about the investigation to come forward. Potential informants can contact Central Station directly or, for those inclined towards anonymity, there is the option to reach out through the We-tip Hotline or their website.
