The East Lampeter Township Police Department reported that the fatal incident occurred at approximately 4:09 a.m. on Route 30 eastbound, on the 2200 block of Lincoln Highway in East Lampeter Township. Responding officers discovered the man deceased at the scene, with the responsible car having fled, according to abc27 News.
The area was closed off for some hours as officials investigated the scene. A reopening of the roadways happened later, restoring the flow of traffic. Route 30 was specifically closed between Exit: PA 340 - Old Philadelphia Pike and Whitmer Road/Pleasant Drive in East Lampeter Township. This was confirmed by FOX43, denoting that the highway was inaccessible for a time as the coroner and first responders worked at the location of the crash.
Furthermore, it was noted by police that the victim was not in a crosswalk when he was hit. The East Lampeter Township police have yet to release the name of the deceased.
