Muskegon County Airport has announced, that due to a large-scale airfield construction project, there will be no Wings Over Muskegon air show in 2025. According to FOX 17, the airport received funding for necessary updates which will see the complete removal and reconstruction of Taxiway Alpha, a critical part of the airport infrastructure that dates back to the 1960s. This taxiway is currently one of the oldest surfaces at the airport and is in urgent need of replacement.

The construction project, which costs $20 million, will span six months and cover the spring, summer, and fall of 2025, as reported by WZZM 13. While the updates will affect day-to-day operations and may disrupt ground traffic, routine-scheduled air services, and general aviation operations are expected to continue as normal. The airport has advised aviators to regularly check local NOTAMs to remain informed on the current phase of the construction.

Despite the hiccup in 2025, the air show for this year is still moving ahead as planned. The 2024 event begins tomorrow at 5 p.m. with a Twilight Show and will feature live music and a line-up of aerial performers. The show will continue throughout the weekend, with gates opening at 10 a.m. and flight performances commencing at 1 p.m. As noted by Vintage Aviation News, tickets for the air show are available for purchase online in advance with a weather forecast that promises conducive conditions for the event.
