A Norton Shores man has been dealt a seven-year sentence for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation. Anthony Bradell McMillan, 37, will also face three years of supervised release, as per the judgment handed down by U.S. District Judge Jane M. Beckering. The sentencing follows McMillan's April plea of guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and MDMA.
After officers responded to a domestic abuse complaint on January 21, McMillan's girlfriend, found bruised, emerged from their home, having reportedly been assaulted by McMillan. "Mr. McMillian helped flood our communities with potentially lethal drugs and has a history of domestic violence, including the circumstances that gave rise to this case," U.S. Attorney Mark Totten stated, as reported by WZZM13.
Search efforts conducted at McMillan's residence resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia and over 2,700 methamphetamine pills, among other illicit substances. The possession of a .45 caliber Glock 21 pistol included in the findings compounded his charges, given McMillan's felon status which barred him from owning firearms. This information came courtesy of a joint investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and local police departments.
"Disrupting the flow of poisons that are taking so many lives and protecting victims of gender-based violence are central to our mission," furthered Totten, his sentiments echoing the grave nature of McMillan's offenses and their impact on the community at large. Detailed in the case's indictment and subsequent plea, McMillan's criminal actions were thoroughly investigated, leading to his conviction. This information was mentioned on the U.S. Justice Department's website for the Western District of Michigan.
