An American Airlines passenger has filed a lawsuit claiming he sustained serious injuries during a turbulent landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Eric Murphy alleges that the flight crew on American Airlines flight number AA855 from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport did not properly monitor the plane’s approach speed and descent rate, leading to a hard impact with the runway. This incident, which occurred on a 2021 flight, was detailed in a federal lawsuit, as reported by WXII 12.
According to Murphy's account, passengers experienced a "violent jolt" as the plane landed, a moment of such force that caused several passengers to audibly cry out. Among the startled and shaken was Murphy himself, who claims to have suffered "serious and permanent injuries to his back and spine." As Murphy contends in the lawsuit, the mishap in the cabin is a direct result of the failed diligence of the flight crew, an accusation reported by WCNC. His legal action is seemingly aimed to hold American Airlines accountable for the physical and possibly emotional aftershock endured by those on board.
The specifics of the alleged injuries and the compensation sought in the lawsuit are not publicly disclosed. American Airlines has yet to publicly respond to Murphy's allegations. The outcome of this case could likely influence to meticulously examine their landing procedures and training of flight crews to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
