A pedestrian was critically injured in an early morning traffic collision in Las Vegas yesterday. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident, involving a 2021 Toyota Camry and a pedestrian, occurred at approximately 12:32 AM at the intersection of Industrial Road and West Wyoming Avenue.

According to the initial investigation, the Toyota was heading north on Industrial Road and, upon approaching West Wyoming Avenue, struck the pedestrian who was crossing against the signal. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 26-year-old Jose Enriquez of Las Vegas, was not impaired and stayed on the scene. The crash sent the unnamed male pedestrian to University Medical Center's Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.

The official statement from the LVMPD indicated that the Toyota "entered the intersection with a green traffic signal as the pedestrian entered the Toyota’s travel path". The resulting impact caused significant harm to the pedestrian, redirecting him onto the roadway, while the car came to a controlled stop shortly thereafter.

While Enriquez has not been reported to suffer from any injuries, the collision stays under the scrutiny of the department's Collision Investigation Section. The identity of the injured pedestrian has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
