Philadelphia police are actively searching for four suspects following an armed robbery at a Mayfair business, which occurred right before the close of the day on Saturday night. As reported by FOX29, the disturbance began around 9:45 p.m. when the gunmen, their faces concealed behind masks, brandished their weapons at the employees and took control of the store located on the 2800 block of Tyson Avenue.
The quartet of assailants directed staff to lie on the floor and proceeded to seize, what was described as, a substantial amount of money. They then made their escape, reportedly down an alleyway behind the establishment. In the wake of the event, none of the store employees were physically harmed, noted a statement obtained by 6ABC.
As the investigation unfolds, officers have begun reviewing footage from nearby security cameras in hopes of identifying the individuals responsible for the crime, relayed by CBS News Philadelphia. The store, which is a grocery establishment, had no customers present at the time of the robbery, ensuring that the incident was limited to the employees only.
The authorities have yet to disclose specific details regarding the total sum pilfered, the appearance of the perpetrators, or the getaway vehicle, noted Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace in a statement provided to CBS News Philadelphia. Pace confirmed that "No one injured during this incident and the thieves absconded with a considerable amount of money." The public has been urged to come forth with any relevant information that may assist in the apprehension of the suspects.
