The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating an individual accused of a gunpoint robbery in the Mt. Airy neighborhood. According to the PPD Northwest Detective Division, the incident took place on August 23, 2024, when a woman was robbed by an unknown assailant as she was leaving Holy Cross Church.
The suspect, described as a black male believed to be in his 20s with a mustache and goatee, had reportedly broken into vehicles outside the church before confronting the complainant with a silver handgun. The same individual is believed to have also been involved in burglarizing the church prior to the street confrontation. The police have obtained video evidence of the suspect, who was last seen running toward Boyer Street. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants, accessorized by a white baseball cap featuring a rainbow-colored emblem reading "All hustle, no luck."
In an effort to apprehend the suspect, the authorities have released footage from a vehicle's dashboard camera that captured the suspect's image. Community members are urged to come forward with any information that may lead to his identification and arrest. The Philadelphia Police emphasize the severity of this crime, highlighting the brazen nature of a midday robbery in a place of worship's vicinity.
The investigation into the robbery and the string of related crimes is ongoing. The PPD has asked anyone with knowledge about these crimes or the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the Northwest Detective Division. Tips can also be made anonymously. Any assistance from the public may prove to be crucial in capturing the individual who appears to have engaged in a pattern of criminal behavior with little regard for the safety of community members.
