The Plano Police Department has recently extended congratulations to a group of women who have completed their Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class. As reported by the Plano Texas Police Department, this self-defense course, specifically designed for women, comprises 12 hours of training over multiple evenings and aims to equip participants with realistic tactics and techniques to defend against aggression and sexual assault.
The RAD program boasts a roster of nationally certified R.A.D. instructors, dedicating their skills to empower women through knowledge and physical defense strategies. A community space was provided by the Chase Oaks Church - Legacy Campus, allowing the training to take place in a supportive environment. Participants engaged over several sessions, learning not just to fend for themselves, but also possibly to forge bonds of solidarity in the shared pursuit of safety and autonomy.
While registration details for the upcoming sessions have been sparse, the police department encourages those interested to stay alert for announcements regarding the next class series, set to commence early in 2025. Updates will be disseminated through their website and social media platforms, ensuring the accessibility of information to the public.
