A routine morning turned tense in Victorville yesterday when businesses in the 15300 block of Anacapa Road were abruptly evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious package, reported by local officers. The Victorville Police Department responded to a call at 8:13 a.m. on August 7, 2024, about a pressure cooker positioned unnervingly close to a Safelite Auto Glass shop. Officers secured the scene and called in the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Arson/Bomb Detail for further examination.
The area, including neighboring businesses, underwent a forced interruption to their day as officials cleared and shut down surrounding roads. After a tense wait of approximately four hours, the object of concern, the pressure cooker, was inspected and eventually deemed innocuous. The Arson/Bomb team successfully confirmed that the device was free of explosives, allowing a collective sigh of relief to pass through the evacuated crowd and, allowing the community to inch back towards normalcy.
A call to action has been issued by the Victorville Police for any individuals with knowledge regarding the suspicious pressure cooker to come forward.
