Upon pulling over the suspicious vehicle, the officer's investigation quickly amplified from a mere traffic violation to a cascade of criminal discoveries. Wearing a ski mask and rubber gloves, the officer checked the driver's wants and warrants, which exposed an outstanding felony warrant for weapons violations from Sonoma County. Further inspection by the officer revealed illegal substances and potential theft instruments inside the vehicle. The unsuspecting registered owner of the vehicle was unaware of the car theft before police contact was established.
The San Rafael Police's diligent work led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the subsequent arrest of the driver. Found in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine, accompanying paraphernalia, and stolen personal items belonging to the true car owner, the driver's night quickly transitioned from committing crimes to facing the consequences behind bars. "This was great proactive police-work that lead to the arrest of a wanted suspect that was clearly up to no good. Nice job!" lauded the department's social media update regarding the incident.
The suspect now faces an array of charges, including felony possession of drugs for sale, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen credit cards, violation of probation, and the pre-existing felony warrant.
