In a recent operation, the Santa Rosa Police Department apprehended Refujio Cuco Carrillo, a 47-year-old Windsor resident, on multiple charges relating to a slew of property and identity theft crimes. On April 9, the SRPD began investigating a commercial burglary that resulted in the loss of tools and equipment valued at over $10,000. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the breakthrough in the case came when the burglary victim found their unique, custom-marked stolen items for sale online on August 7.
The SRPD Property Crimes Investigations Team tracked down the online marketplace account details via search warrants, leading them to the suspect, Carrillo, who had prior records and was on bail for similar offenses at his arrest. During a search yesterday at an address associated with Carrillo, detectives unearthed various forms of contraband, including stolen mail, fraudulent debit cards, and a stolen e-bike. However, the items stolen from the original burglary were not found at the location.
Further investigations confirmed Carrillo's involvement with the stolen items through digital evidence, culminating in recovering some property from a local pawn shop. Carrillo, who had been previously arrested in June by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for grand theft and possession with intent to sell controlled substances, now faces renewed charges, including possession of stolen property and committing a felony while out on bail, as detailed by the Santa Rosa Police Department.
During the same search that implicated Carrillo, authorities also arrested 31-year-old Beatriz Vital Lomeli for possessing personal identifying information that did not belong to her. Vital Lomeli had previous convictions for identity theft and was taken into custody under SRPD case #24-10023.
