In a renewed effort to shed light on cold cases involving missing adults, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) is rolling out the second iteration of its Missing Person Monday campaign. Launched in January, the maiden social media initiative proved fruitful, bringing closure to some families as it successfully resolved several longstanding missing person cases.
The campaign's impressive track record includes the location of one individual almost immediately after the start, and by the conclusion of the six-week program, five missing adults were found, including one who had disappeared in 2005. The resurgence of this program underscores the power of community engagement in providing new leads and reunions that may have otherwise remained elusive.
With a history of cases stretching back to 1984, SRPD's campaign taps into the collective reach of social media users. Each weekly highlight hopes to ignite public interest and action that can lead to the whereabouts of several featured missing individuals. The department encourages anyone with knowledge of the immediate whereabouts of any highlighted individual to contact their local law enforcement agency outside Santa Rosa or call 707-528-5222 for those within Santa Rosa.
The SRPD also offers a tipline for the Violent Crimes Investigations Team, reachable at 707-543-3590, for any information that might assist their ongoing investigations. The Facebook post announcing the second campaign urges the public to frequent their social media pages, share the information widely, and help resolve the lingering mysteries surrounding the missing adults and their families.
