A DUI incident in Santa Rosa yesterday afternoon led to traffic delays and a small brush fire after a car collided with a power pole. Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) and Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD) responded to the scene on Bellevue Avenue, just west of Moorland Avenue, around 3:05 pm, following reports of the crash. The collision caused a power pole to fall and sparked a brush fire when the live wires hit the ground.

The investigation by SRPD officers revealed that the driver, 23-year-old Alyssa Metzger of Santa Rosa, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, Metzger attempted to provide false identification to the officers, which could have wrongfully implicated another individual. After the initial contact, an Accident and DUI investigator with SRPD further assessed Metzger's condition and confirmed her intoxication.

Metzger faced several charges following the arrest, including driving under the influence (23152(a) PC), felony false personation (529(a)(3) PC), and obstructing or resisting arrest (148(a)(1) PC). While the officers were attempting to detain her, Metzger reportedly struggled, trying to break free from the handcuffs. The SRPD case number for the incident is 24-10171, and Metzger was booked into Sonoma County Jail on the listed charges.

The area was closed to traffic until about midnight as Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) worked to repair the damages.
