
A tragic incident unfolded in Jefferson Township when a 79-year-old motorcyclist collided with a school bus on Wednesday afternoon. According to a WPXI report, the accident took place around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Dinnerbell and Victory roads, the collision resulted in the motorcyclist's fatality, a resident of Saxonburg in Butler County.
At the time of the crash, the bus carried twenty-one elementary students who were reportedly unscathed, as confirmed by district officials and the Butler County dispatchers in the midst of maneuvering through the logistics and emotional strain that an event of such magnitude naturally imposes. As detailed by TribLIVE, Knoch School District stated that principals from the elementary school joined the students on a replacement bus to ensure their safe return home.
According to a statement, Butler County Deputy Coroner John Hanovick confirmed the identity of the deceased has not been released and the school counselors will be available the next day for support. Following the accident, Dinnerbell Road was shut down for investigation for nearly five hours and reopened shortly after 9 p.m., as WPXI reported.
The Pennsylvania State Police have taken up the investigation into what led to the fatal encounter, looking into the unfortunate event that placed the motorcyclist at the fatal conjunction where his journey met its end.
