
Quarterback Geno Smith's knee and hip injuries from Tuesday's practice are not as serious as initially feared. According to The Spokesman-Review, initial tests have come back showing no significant damage to Smith's knee, though results from further tests on his hip were still pending during Friday's practice where he was notably absent.
Sidelined since Tuesday's incident where he was banged around, in the words of head coach Mike Macdonald, Smith was sitting out practice for a third consecutive day to heal from his ailments, now Smith's status had been shrouded in uncertainty while backup Sam Howell took reps with the starting offense. Howell who joined the Seahawks in March from Washington's Commanders, maintained order under center during Smith's hiatus from the field, as reported by KOMO News.
Geno Smith's return to practice was noted on Monday, assuaging fears regarding the quarterback's readiness for the upcoming season. Smith, 33, "got banged up a little bit," during a practice drill last week, which resulted in the QB favoring his leg for the remainder of the practice, as per information obtained by CBS Sports.
