The storm has passed, and the cleanup operation in the south part of our city is entering its home stretch. In a recent update, over 11,500 tons of brush have been cleared away from our streets and yards. This figure, provided by the City of Mesquite, confirms the considerable efforts undertaken to restore a sense of normalcy after unrest by weather.
As of Monday, waste collection services are returning to their typical scheduling. This means any large brush or bulky items you're discarding must be placed at the front curb no later than 7:30 a.m., but not before 24 hours before pickup. There’s a restriction in place; bulk trash mustn't surpass eight cubic yards, enough to fill a space five feet tall, four feet deep, by 11 feet long.
Furthermore, the city reminds people of weekly yard waste collection, which includes grass, leaves, and small brush, happening every Wednesday. This collection only accepts bagged grass clippings and leaves or brushes that do not exceed the dimensions of two feet by two feet by four feet, with a weight threshold of a manageable 50 pounds. Large brush, on the other hand, defined as anything greater than that 50-pound weight or larger than the set dimensions, will be picked up between Monday and Friday, depending on your area.
