A dramatic turn of events unfolded Saturday evening when a woman arrested by Michigan State Police managed to slip her handcuffs, steal a patrol car, and lead authorities on a high-speed chase. According to WZZM 13, the chase ensued after troopers responded to a domestic call at around 8:30 p.m. near Grand Rapids and an altercation occurred during an arrest, as the individual reportedly bit one of the troopers.

The incident escalated when, the suspect, while initially detained, managed to free herself of the handcuffs as the troopers dealt with additional individuals present at the scene. She then commandeered the MSP patrol vehicle, prompting a swift response from additional units. According to WZZM 13, MSP detailed that the stolen vehicle eventually crashed and was then towed out of a swamp in Bridgeton Township.

Following the pursuit and crash, the woman was apprehended and is now facing additional charges. Meanwhile, the injured trooper, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The Michigan State Police Sixth District confirmed the sequence of events in a post on their official Twitter account. "Additional units pursued the stolen patrol vehicle which eventually crashed and the female was once again taken into custody and transported to the jail with additional charges," MSP Sixth District reported.
